Perhaps one of our Quebecois members could be kind enough to check this out for me? Thanks a bunch in advance.
Hello, my name is ______________, an English teacher at a Korean high school, and Im so happy you can be pen-friends with my students. Im sorry that my students written level of English is so low, but they get very little opportunity to practice writing in the Korean school system. However, although what they have written is rather simple and short, it took them a fair bit of effort and theyre really looking forward to hearing back from you.
Theyre especially interested in your social lives, what you do for fun, your hobbies, what music and films you like, and your background especially if youve grown up in various countries. Theyd also like to know what your school is like, what subjects you take, what you do and dont like about school, and what clubs or teams youre on. Most of all, theyd really like to know if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend and what kind of boys / girls you like, lol.
Thanks again and we look forward to hearing back from you. |

Is this someone writing to you? If so, then yes the two are the same. If you're writing to someone, there are a couple of grammar points in the french:
'sont' should be 'est'.
quelle musique et films vous aiment
should be 'quelles musiques'
It reads like a quick note.
But yes, the two say the same thing.
And I am from Nova Scotia |

This is just a quick glance correction, however, do you teach only girls? If so, ok, but if you teach both boys and girls, you should use the masculine rather than the feminine as the pronoun for your students. I will take another look tonight when I get home. |

Other than what the other reponse said, a lot of accents are missing. |

I assumed he was typing it out from a piece of paper and so was missing accents, but if it's copy/pasted from an email... yeah, lots of accents are missing. |

I would say "faible" rather than "bas," but it's ok. You don't need an article ("des") in front of "correspondants," and "pas beaucoup de possibilits de pratique d'criture" makes more sense, in the "systeme scolaire." In the next sentence, change "sont" to "est" again.
In the second paragraph, I'd probably say "votre vie sociale" instead of the plural, but either way "sociale" should be feminine, and "histories" is "histoires." "Les autres pays" should be changed to "dans diffrents pays," and "quels sujets" to just "les sujets que vous prenez." In the last sentence, "connaitre" should be "savoir," and "aimez" to "preferez."
Oh, it's "etudiantes," not "edutientes." I had to stare at that for several minutes before I realized why it looked strange.
I have very little experience with Canadian French though, so if this is for a Canadian school I may have given you some bad advice. |

Here is my translation mais je ne suis pas un traducteur. I am not a translater. I am just an anglophone who lived in Quebec and speaks it rather well. I didn't add the accents, because I can't do that on Dave's.

Thanks a lot guys. The accent marks are from a few words I copied out of a dictionary because my French spelling's almost as bad as my Korean; I guess I should either copy every word that has accent marks or eliminate them entirely. Yes, the students are girls and the letter exchange is with a class at a French school. |
