I'm curious about whether or not you asked for or received a letter of recommendation from any of your Korean bosses. I got one from DYB... they let me write it and the boss signed and stamped it.

I wouldn't ask my current boss for a recommendation. Simply doing that might send him into cardiac arrest. He told me doesn't like any of his foreign employees very much, including me. Some he even hates.

I could ask my Korean co-teacher for a letter, which would be better than nothing.

Get the head teacher or make one up and borrow the school`s stamp. Like a good Korean would.

These matter to some schools but to other schools they only care about having a foreign teacher- ANY foreign teacher.

Were I you I'd go with that. And then I'd read page 93 post number 2 of the Contract Posting sticky thread... Cool

When possible employers call my last place of employment, they get lied to. Even about my actual starting and ending dates, which are easily verifiable with IMMI. Absolutely no ethics. Although I should have expected it after they stole money from me at the end.
