Are you making more or less than your co-workers?

One of my friends told me he's been making 400 bux more a month than his colleagues for the same hours and same type of work for the past 8 months. He doesn't even have a degree in linguistics or anything remotely related to teaching and is making far more than other natives there who hold teaching degrees and certificates.

It can't be seniority either as he's only been working there for about 8 months and is younger than most of his co-workers. Everyone else there is on their second contract.

What is this? Is it his negotiating skills? He was quite baffled to find out he's been making around 400 bux more a month than everyone else.

I make more than my director and man does she hate me for that. Her problem though cause she agreed to get paid based upon enrollment and her stupidity always seems to be the main reason students quit. She sits at her desk all day with her teeth clenched and about twice a day sticks a handful of pills in her mouth. She is one of the worst managers I have ever worked for and gets paid exactly (well...maybe a bit more) than she is worth.

As far as this guy you are talking about. If you are a good instructor, there are hawgwan owners that will pay you for it. The key is you need to be able to go through the hell of negotiating with a Korean hawgwan owner and most of them have no negotiating skills so it can be a long and stressful process. Most instructors just prefer to sign whatever contract is put in front of them every year. I negotiated a good deal last year but it went on for months and we must have signed about three contracts. After it was all said and done, I honestly wondered if it was worth all the headaches and stress I went though.
