Hi, silly question but how many re-entries do I get with my E2 visa? I plan on traveling during break and one my co-teachers is worried I won't be able to get back in. I've had student visas before in other countries and was allowed to go in-and-out as I pleased, can I with an E2? I'm assuming, yes.
Want to find out before she drags me to a gov't office, making me leave work early and lose pay, and then finding out I don't need it. It's happened before. |

Your initial entry, that's all.
You can buy re-entry permits for 30,000won at Incheon or Busan Kimhae airports (airport immigration office).
Or you can buy a multiple (unlimited) re-entry permit for 50,000. However, I don't think the multiple is available at aiports. |

On both occasions that I've come to Korea on an E2 single-entry visa, I've had a re-entry permit stuck in my passport when I got my alien card from immigration...with no charge. Maybe my employer paid. Maybe pigs can fly. |

definitive answers:
IF you are American you MAY have a multiple re-entry visa. On your visa there should be an "M" under entries.
If you are NOT American you will need to apply for a re-entry permit.
For those holding a UK visa it is free. The rest of us pay for it.
A multiple re-entry permit is 50k won and can ONLY be obtained at your LOCAL immigration office (the one that issued your ARC). It has in and out privileges for the duration of your current status of sojourn. You need to get another one if you extend or renew your stay in Korea beyond the original ARC expiry.
You can also obtain a single use re-entry permit at the INTERNATIONAL airports or ferry terminals. The cost is 30k won each time you leave and re-enter. You must obtain a new one EVERY time you travel outside of Korea.
Failure to obtain a re-entry permit before you leave WILL void your visa and cancel your work privileges when you depart. Your re-entry will be on a tourist stamp and you will have to obtain a new work visa before you can continue to work.

Sweet, thank you. I have a 'M', so I don't need to worry about this then. Thank you everyone. |
