My friend is coming to town and wants to find a bar where she can meet some other gay women.
I offered to go to homo hill with her, but those bars tend to cater to gay men.
I read about a few places in Hongdae. Does anyone know any specifics? Also, I heard that some of the bars are not friendly towards non-Koreans, even if they are gay too. Are there any places someone would suggest?
Thanks. |

No good answers, but a couple pieces of advice:
Check koreabeat.com for a recent (2 weeks ago) story about lesbians in Korea.
Register on expat korea . com (no spaces) and ask there, there are more open-minded posters there in the private (registered members only) forums.

The concrete park in Shinchon behind Hyundai Dept store is supposed a lesbian hangout and there's a bar somewhere around there called Lesbos. An ex-coworker of mine told me that, so that's all the info I can pass on. |

There's one in Ehwa. It caters to foreigners only..well, the owner(s) got tired of kicking out all the curious high school and uni students so they started banning locals there just like they're banning locals from entering casinos nation-wide.
I don't have a name for you though...I'll ask my friend for direction if I see her in the near future. |

yes, in Hongdae - Feminist Bar - if it's still around
I use to go right past it when visiting a friend - another friend pointed it out to me - he said he always wanted to go in but never did. I never went in either so can't confirm it.
take the Hongik Uni subway stop and exit the elevator - I don't know what number on the stairs and also I don't recall which direction you'll be facing when you exit the elevator BUT- when you exit, to the closest corner and you'll see a bank on your side, and across the street there will be a Seven Springs restaurant upstairs.
turn right at that corner and walk straight. you'll pass a couple of small streets and come to a very twisty road, just past a Family Mart (or something similar). Turn left there and walk straight for about 5 minutes. On your left across the way is a building about 3-4 stories, black and very geometrical. You can't miss it. At that interesection you'll want to turn right again. Keep walking maybe another 5 minutes. You'll see the F bar on your left. It's on a corner.
good luck with you and your "friend" |

I've spent many an evening there. there's a ton of girls walking around holding hands (not uncommon with straight girls here) and with their arms around in each other in a "proprietary" way (which I haven't seen much of). That said, they all look like they're in high school. Then again I think all Koreans pretty much look like they're in high school until the age of 35. |
