Hi,

I'm considering doing a mandarin language course in Taiwan for one year.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this or anything similar. I am also wondering how soon it took for you to progress to a stage where you could hold a reasonable conversation with a mandarin speaker.

Have you found that speaking Mandarin has enhanced your career/earning potential?

Do you have any recommended courses in Taiwan or even elsewhere?

I'm a complete beginner, but my girlfriend who is Cantonese told me that I pick Cantonese up quickly and have good pronunciation.

Any info appreciated.
