So my friend of a friend that is trying to leave without the employer knowing is weary about filing for the pension refund before leaving Korea. I've read that once you get home it takes FOREVER, so that friend of a friend wants to file here, but they've heard that pension will call your school if they haven't paid everything. This friend of a friend talked to pension last week and they told the friend of a friend that the school had paid. The friend of a friend leaves next week. What is the opinion of you knowledgeable Dave's lurkers?

This person lives in the US. Would it really take a year to get the refund from their home?

Pension gives out your information to friends?

Anyway this "friend of a friend" should man up. Tell the school s/he's leaving. What is the school going to do? Kidnap them and force them to teach? Rolling Eyes

Then go and collect pension and leave. That's all there is to it.

All they have to do is make a phone call to immigration saying my friend of a friend stole their cat, and they will hold my friend at the airport until the matter is sorted out.

And the school authorities are going to come all the way out to Incheon and back over a fake phone call?

Highly unlikely. And your friend can just say "Well you can see that I don't have a cat. Must be some other foreigner with the same name." Laughing Laughing

But on a more serious note: Plenty of people have left a bad situation and the school has done nothing about it. It's more hassle for them anyway.
