It seems that Korean parents of limited financial means are always trying to prevent students from more affluent families from getting a better English education than their own children get. These poorer families are always whining and demanding a level playing field when it comes to English education.
This seems unreasonable to me. Why should more affluent families not be allowed to give their children every advantage that their money and influence can buy in terms of English language education? For example, international schools, exclusive hogwons, private native English speaking tutors, studying abroad, etc.
When I was growing up in the USA, I knew that the rich folks there would send their kids to expensive prep schools, abroad to study during vacations, to SAT test prep schools, etc. in order to get them accepted into the ivy league schools.
My family couldn't afford these things and I always knew, and gladly accepted, that I would be educated in the state schools there. My parents didn't protest against these things which gave the more affluent students an advantage over me.
It just seems unreasonable to me that Korean parents seem so jealous in that they don't want those who can afford better education to actually be able to get it. Why are they so hung up over this class distinction here? |

You'd also be disgusted with what some of the richer parents do. It's not rare that when a new apartment complex opens and the local schools get a lot of new students, the parents of these new students make a fuss about their children going to school with poorer students, and generally the schools will force the poorer kids out of the school.
I really don't think that all this extra education that money can buy helps the kids at all, so your concern doesn't bother me in the least. |

I don't understand the fuss when the poorer families ask (read: DEMAND) that the richer students don't use their children for fuel and/or food. |
