My current contract is near up, and I'm starting to send out resumes. My habit in the States is to send out PDF files, because .doc files have a bad habit of appearing differently on different computers. However, I've noticed that computers in Korea often cannot read PDF files... PC rooms for example often cannot do this. What I'm wondering is this: Can I expect any prospective employers to be able to read PDF-format resumes? |

I suggest you attach the PDF file anyway, and don't bother with the .doc.
As a backup, instead of linking to a download for Adobe Reader (if they don't have it already, they may not decide to go through the hassle just for your resume), I suggest you do this:
1. Go to http://pdfmenot.com/
2. Upload your resume file
3. See & browse the resulting online PDF of your resume right inside your browser, with no need to download or install anything
4. Send your employer the automatically generated link shown at the top of the page
5. Profit
*Forgot to mention, there are plenty of free online PDF services like this one available. I just like PDFMeNot for its clean interface and cool, refreshing taste. You might also try: http://www.scribd.com/ |
