I may replace my passport. Somehow, some of the passport got some water damage. Many of the pages are fine including the one with the visa, but I am thinking of changing the passport. What would I have to deal with and what would immigration do in Korea?

Thanks...

I had this problem about 3 years ago. My then girlfriend was doing laundry and then somehow managed to put my passport in the washing machine. I obviously needed to get a new passport. The process was no problem and the entire thing toook about a month.

I got the necessary forms my embassy and applied for the new passport (new photo's, guarantor, all of that). Filled them out and sent the forms along with my ruined passport to the embassy. They issued a new passport(5 years) and sent my old passport with "VOID" literally on every page back to me. Then I went to the local immigration office with my old passport, new passport and ARC. They just put the necessary stamp in my new passport, that was it. No problems at all.

Very easy. Take old passport, and new passport to immigration. Fill out a form there. They take it for a few minutes, clicky-click, barbatrick, you are done.

At least that is what I remember from when I did it.

I did it last month. as polonius said, it's quick and easy. There was no form filling for me, just a new sticker/visa placed in the new passport.
I plan to travel with both passports in case there is any issue at passport control.
