The game is probably too old for most of you guys to remember but I was hooked on it when it first came out. I've just installed it on my laptop at home after not playing it for years. I'm looking forward to reliving some fun times! |

My favorite ship was the Enterprise model fitted out with enveloping antimatter torpedos and phasers.
Good game. |

Yeah, one of my favorite games of all time. MOO3 was a huge disappointment. I so wanted that to be a great game.
The only real successors to that franchise have turned out to be the Galactic Civilizations games, but sadly, they fall just a bit short. The Antares (believe that was them) attacks were great, and when you finally got to stomp them at the end, it was just a wonderful feeling.
Some other games have gone past and recaptured the feeling of that game (with a bit more action), like Space Rangers and Space Rangers 2 (although you'd want to get the online download version that doesn't have any DRM attached to it). Also, a much more action-oriented game that really felt like a HUGE successor to the genre was Freelancer, although it goes a completely different direction, but the gameplay is wonderful.
I recently downloaded a revamped version of Millennium: Return to Earth (which is probably what MOO2 and MMO got its inspiration from, and it plays fun in a nostalgic kind of way, if you like that sort of game like we all seem to in this thread. |
