Hi,
I plan to come to Seoul in the new year. I was wondering if it is easy enough to get hold of steel string acoustic guitar out there? Would prefer to leave mine in England to save on the extra baggage.etc |

You can buy any guitar you can imagine at the Nagwon Music Arcade in central Seoul. It's a three floor building filled with shops and stalls. Best deals are on Korean made guitars (like Crafter) but as I said the selection is ridiculous. I bought a Crafter acoustic bass there a few months ago for 290,000won, after bargaining it down from the list price of 400,000. With the exchange rate the way it is, if you're coming in with British pounds, you'll get yourself a good deal.
Once you get to Seoul and get used to the subway system, all you have to do is find Jongno3-Ga station, go out exit 4 or 5, and go in the big blue and grey building that has traffic going beneath it. Open until about 6:30 or 7:00 on weekdays, and at least one floor is open on weekends.

A friend of mine bought an acoustic in great shape from the grey market in Dongdaemoon for something like 20 000 won. Then his girlfriend smashed it when she kicked him out. |
