My school is changing its curriculum in accordance with the rest of the chain. They've told us that it's gonna be TOEFL-based, but haven't given any guidelines.
Despite the fact that we haven't received a curriculum, books, or guidlines, my boss wants me to make a teaching manual.
I know this is retarded, but I'm outta in less than two weeks, so I wanna play the game.
A google search yields a zillion results and I don't want to sift through them all.
Does anyone have any links that provided the breakdown of TOEFL writing, along with guidelines for each of the 7 question types.
This guy won't even check it. It's work for the sake of work, like everything since he took charge.
Thanks in advance. |

You should get on that right after turning water into wine. At least you're outta there in a few weeks.
Anyway, I like The Official Guide to the New TOEFL iBT and the Longman series are popular too. You should talk to Ed Provencher.. I think he does a lot of iBT TOEFL
EDIT: oops.. just saw you wanted links. |

DELTA'S Key to the Next Generation TOEFL Test is the only text worth using. None of the others even come close (I've taken the TOEFL iBT myself, so I can tell you from personal experience that this text is most like the real test). It will give you all that you need to make your teacher's guide. You should be able to pick it up at several English bookstores, it's a pretty popular book.
Heck, I just remembered - I wrote an iBT TOEFL teacher's guide for my last school where I taught TOEFL for a year. PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you! |

The Compass IBT writing book isnt bad for beginning Ibt students but the speaking book is such garbage. Never use it. |

go to www.toefl.org and start browsing their site.
it's immensely helpful. with any luck you can start emailing some folks, write a memo, even an outline of your progress and be outa there before doing anything as drastic as WRITING A TEACHING MANUAL IN TWO WEEKS!!! OMG |

Call me unethical, but if you're leaving in 2 weeks, cut-and-paste a whole bunch of stuff from the net and act like you typed it up.. would have taken 2 weeks to type all that, right?
they're obviously not seriously about it, I've had to do the "busy work" thing too.. no one even pays attention to the results anyway |
