Are there any pros or cons to working in a new opening of a chain? The one I am thinking of seems to be smaller, but those are just impressions. |

I would say that it depends if it is being franchised out or whether it is run directly by the chain. If it is franchised, the school won't have the money from the chain to support it through its opening, and the wellbeing of the school depends solely on enrollment. If it is run part of the chain, the company will support it for a couple years as it is an investment.
The company I work for is opening a number of schools around the Seoul area, and they have the full backing of the chain, so there is no fear of them closing within a year or two. |

Permit me to say:
Newbie teacher + new hakwon = recipe for disaster.
Talk about the blind man telling directions to the deaf man.
New teacher and established school = usually ok... but the learning curve can be steep.
Old teacher and new hakwon can be OK... if the director isn't too full of himself already. |
