We need a place to sleep for our first night--we'll be catching a flight out of Manila at lunchtime.
Any recommendations. Others have recommended the townhouse and the Manila Airport Hotel but I've read awful reviews of both.
Now, looking at the malate pensionne. But looking for other ideas. trying to keep it under 1500 pesos for a clean and safe room.
They want 500 for airport pickup. Is it safe to take a taxi at 12:30 am from the airport? I'm assuming a taxi would be cheaper or should we just settle for their service. |

I have the same question as crazy arcade, looking for good place for the first night near(ish) the airport. Out the next day at noon too. |

The Stargate Pensionne, 1711 M. Adriatico St. Malate
(632) 303-6572-75
This is in the city, right in the heart of both the gay bar area and the whoring/straight bar area. Clean, cheap, cable, safe. If you wanna party in Manila before the flight, this is the spot to do it from!
Any questions, just ask.

I like that Citystate Tower Hotel. It is slightly more than 1500pesos but it is nice and clean and in a good area and somewhat close to the airport(about 30 min.).
Do not bother with airport pickup. Just take a taxi. The taxis at the airport are all legitimate. The airport quotes you a price and then records the license plate of the taxi. You cannot be ripped off. |

Be careful in Maila, a dodgy place to say the least, especially watch out for the corrupt police. |

And don't let the taxi drivers at the airport try and take you to a different hotel.
I'd stay somewhere close to the airport so you can get the hell outta there asap. Manila is filthy, with cocroaches all over the streets, rivers/streams that look and smell like sewage, and from my experience, generally untrustworthy people. |

i stayed at the Pensione Natividad in Malate. Not too far from the airport, definitely seemed safe, and close to lots of bars and restaurants, but the hotel itself was ungodly boring. if you're just looking for a quiet place to crash for a night, it's not bad. |

Okay, I'm going to Manila for the first time (I've been to Cebu and Boracay twice each). I will spend a week in the Phils but hmm, where would be a good place other than Boracay to go from Manila? |

Not quite sure what I'm looking for, but it seems many people are telling me here that Manila is best avoided or is just good for a night. |

My first question is why did you book a flight where you land in Manila at midnight? I would go with the airport pick-up by Citystate Hotel. It always worked out good for me. Just make sure you leave early for the airport since traffic is a mess and the airport security procedures take forever. |

Well, the Cebu Pacific flights late at night are quite cheaper than those offered by Korean Air, Asiana and Philippine Airlines, for one. I'm now reconsidering whether to go to Manila since Cebu was basically hassle free. |

If YaYa has not been to Camiguin Island, I would highly recommend it. Not too expensive and you can rent a bicycle or to get around the island. I might try going there again end of the month. Very quiet and peaceful. |

What is the fastest way to get to the island? I've been studying it and it looks worth a visit! |
