This post is just a reminder for people to be careful when it comes to walking around anywhere. Yesterday my wife got clipped by a car who wasn't watching where the hell they were going. Fortunately, they only hit her ankle and not anywhere else. She did have to go to a hospital and had an x-ray of her foot (which was fine) and wrapped).
As was mentioned in the US Embassy newsletter yesterday, when an accident occurs between a vehicle and a pedestrian, the vehicle is almost always at fault. Also keep in mind that Korean Health Insurance will not pay for accidents like this, it need to be covered by the drivers insurance.
Most of all, be careful around cars. People drive with their heads up their *** and in a hurry. |

Yep, you got to really look out for cars and motorcycles, because they're not really looking out for you to be walking in their way. Often, a scene is just too busy with a hundred things going on at the same time along with the driver on a phone, debating many things in his/her mind such as which way is fastest, and looking at a video screen. Motorcycles can just pop out of nowhere and peg you so you really got to peek around corners of alleys and small foot paths.
I've seen a lot more road rage and hurrying this year so you really got to be on your toes. In general, Asia is faster paced where you can have a hundred close calls a day. |

What do you do if it happens?
Call the police right then and there and tell the driver not to go anywhere?
Get the description of the car as well as license plate number and go to the hospital first, then file a police report later? |

Go for the plate number before anything else. Imagine saying to the police "It was a white Hyundai Sonata" or "a silver Kia Sportage." This would get either a laugh or a blank stare. |
