I'm thinking of applying there for next year and would like to know about general working conditions and whether an MA is absolutely necessary. I have four years of experience in Korea, including two at a public middle school. I know it doesn't hurt to apply, but how strict are most universities on the MA? |

In general, if the advertisement says 'minimum MA required', then they are strict about it. Most if not all ads will let you know what the base degree is for the job. I've never heard of the school, but if you only have your BA and want to give university teaching a try, then go for it. What's the worst that could happen? |

If that's the uni out on the "island" Nampo-dong (Busan), you can feel free to give the place a pass. Not worth it. |

Hey there, Frankie,
Do you think you could be more specific as to what is not worth it, and why, and while being inclusive of examples illustrating your point and the amount of, or direct nature of, your experience and/or reasons for your opinion? |

Its in Seognam, near Seoul. Here's the ad: Shingu College
In their ad they state that they want an MA/MSc. If you have university teaching experience, but no MA, put together a good application package highlighting your tertiary teaching experience, and any certificates you might have, and you might be invited to the interview. But, in my opinion, two years at a public middle school doesn't really qualify as relevant experience. You might want to give starter universities like Yonsei in Wonju, or Andong National University in Andong a try; they're both looking. |
