Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows a dermotologist that prescribes tetracycline? I've been to a derm over here but all he will give me is monocin, even when I ask for my previously (home doctor) recommended medicine. Do they have tetracycline over here? |

Monocin is Doxycycline, one of the tetras. Ask to see his drug cross-reference. |

It is one of a group of similar medications, but not exactly. I asked my doctor at home and she told me she thinks tetracycline is better for me than using monocin. What's a drug cross reference? He's the doctor from the international clinic in Itaewon so he was educated abroad (no communication difficulties), but he just brushes me off when I ask for tetracycline or suggests something else. That's why I was thinking tetracycline is just not found over here. Do you know of a different doctor to go see? |

Doctors who brush me off don't work for me for very long. I'm not in Seoul, so i can't help you with someone else, but you need to go back and have a heart-to-heart and ask why he's not prescribing tetracycline. If the answer is not sufficient, you need to look for another doctor.
His drug cross-reference lists American/European/Japanese/Korean drug names. When in doubt, ask to see his Merck Manual. If he says, "I don't have one" that's your cue to exit, stage left. |
