Food for thought:
- 588,000 Korean high school students take the Comprehensive Scholastic Admission Test (CSAT) to enter university every year.
- of these, approximately 65% attend cram schools = 382,200 students
- they attend cram schools for the three years of high school = 36 months
- cram school fees in Korea average 120,000 won/month
- 120,000 won x 36 months = 4,320,000 won, = US$3105.00 at today's exchange rate
- $3105 x 382,200 students =
$1,186,731,000 spent by Korean parents EVERY YEAR. |
