Lately my monitor has been going dead, though I don't think it's the monitor. If I unplug the computer for 12 hours and just let it sit it always comes back. This has happened three or four times now. Is it my power supply? graphics card?
It seems to happen when I am downloading from filesharing sites, perhaps because the computer is working hard...dunno. what should I do? |

Is it a notebook or a desktop?
I'm assuming you mean notebook but if not, what do you mean by dead? You may not be able to see anything produced by the computer but a desktop monitor should still have functionality if what you've got is a bad graphics card or power supply. Try pressing some of the menu button.
Assuming it's a notebook, are there any other problems as far as you can tell? When this happens, does the rest of the computer seem to be functioning normally? It could be some sort of heat or connection issue. Perhaps getting a can of compressed air and blowing some of the dust out of the case and fans would help. Also, if it happens again, see if you can plug your computer into an external monitor. Depending on whether that works or not, you may be able to narrow the issue down a bit. |
