Does anyone have experience with the Chinese consulate? I'm jumping ship on Korea and the won, and I need to get a Z visa for China.
I've heard that it's impossible to get a visa by oneself, and that a travel agent is required to do it for you.
I obviously don't want a tourist visa, though, I need a work visa (Z). |

From my experience, the Chinese embassy is useless unless you go through a travel agent, but that is only for an L-visa or short-term business visa.
All you need is your invitation letter and work permit from the national Bureau of Foreign Affairs (not the provincial one). But depending on the consulate (here, I use the one in New York City), you might need to submit a health certificate. The school's FAO should guide you as to what the steps are.
I'd go to the embassy and get info first because gathering your documents. |
