Seriously, what the puck is going on with this?
For people already teaching in Korea that want to change jobs, people that have already submitted a CRC for their current jobs, do they really need to get another one? Or a VSS? Really? Does anyone know for sure?
I've been at my current job since the beginning of July. I've been given a month notice (this week), so I'll need a visa run for a new job since I've only been at my current one less than 9/10 months. I'll, of course, have to have my alien card cancelled and receive an exit order from immigration.
Seems to me that I'll just have to go into immigration where my visa was processed and find out myself. I don't like calling the "hotline" because I don't find their information 100% reliable. They'll just tell me this and that where someone at a cubicle at immigration would just do it case by case.
Is there really a written rule for this? Seems to me I've only heard cases, in cases like mine, where a new one wasn't needed. |

If you get through 3/4 of your contract, you can transfer your visa. This is 100% for sure. You will need a release letter from your current hagwon, and the new contract, new business liscence. I don't think you will be able to switch jobs though, if you have only been there since July.
As I have mentioned in other threads, I just hired a teacher. He submitted his CRC in March. We did not need to submit a new CRC. There is a written policy on the immigration website that states once you have submitted the CRC you don't have to submit it again.
As for the VSS, this is true. There was a thread about being to order one from either the Winnipeg police, or from another company. It slips my mind now what company it was from. They can expedite it, and you could have it within 2-3 weeks. I will poke around and find that company name. The cost though, was like 130,000 Won.
Anyhoo, I will update you later on the weekend. |

Jebus!!! So the person you hired didn't need to submit another CRC, but they had to provide a VSS? |

Vulnerable Sector Search - more detailed than a regular criminal background check.
and it is only in Canada. |

No, he was a Brit. But, I just had 3 teachers extend with CRC and VSS. They did it through a website. Can't remember what site. I will find out on Monday. |

Well, I'm hoping to hell I don't need a VSS with already having submitted a CRC for a job this year and not having left Korea.
This VSS for Canadians only is fkg bullshit. |

That's like three jobs you have quit or been fired early from. Why? Just curious. |

Two jobs. First was an after-school program that I basically forced them to fire me from. The current one's reason is that I wasn't being "generous" with the students. Guess they wanted me to dance around or something. Basically, they don't control the kids very well and I had to do it. They're not being so bad to me though. I got a month's notice (till Dec 15th). My last day of teaching is Nov 28th where I get paid a month and a half wages. I was looking to get out of it anyway. I signed both contracts this year under haste. Less so for the current one. |

I called immigration just a few minutes ago. Here's what the girl told me...
"YOU DON'T NEED A VSS TO APPLY FOR A NEW E2 VISA IF YOU APPLIED FOR YOUR CURRENT VISA IN JUNE AND YOUR CURRENT CRIMINAL CERTIFICATE DIDN'T INCLUDE A VSS. YOU DIDN'T LEAVE THE COUNTRY OR GO BACK TO CANADA. YOU DON'T FALL WITHIN THOSE GUIDELINES."
Thank you. Please come again. |

Wait till your application for a new visa gets to the counter and see if you get the same.
Even the Embassy is telling the MOJ to pee up a rope over this one.
