There is not a lot I remember from my law lectures, but one thing that was permanently etched into my brain was, NEVER EVER sign ANYTHING that is bad for you.
Nearly all "employment contracts" here have lots of nasty clauses. Don't sign!
No if, no but, no maybe, just don't sign period.
What I've done over the years, is those clauses that suck I just cross them out. You'll be amazed how effective it is and how the other party accepts.
Don't ask permission, just get a ruler and cross them out.
Some clauses that you may want to get rid of include.
Employer may change working hours-NO WAY
Employee is liable for loss or damage caused to employer - BIG NO WAY
Employee may work overtime for 6,000 won- HUGE NO WAY
Employee may work in multiple locations- ABSOLUTE NO WAY
You may get , oh but its a standard contract, my reply, yea but I'm not a standard teacher. |

Very sound advice.
Every contract is negotiable, and if they are not willing to negotiate means that they don't care.
There is no such thing as a standard contract. |

You make a very good point.
The sad part is that for some reason people do it anyways.... I had nothing shady in my contract, but it took a lot of contracts before I found that one.... |
