I had no problems using DBank ATM card in Vietnam, and Canada. Although, it only worked during the hours that ATMs are open IN KOREA.
This is 2008, isn't it? |

You need to ask for it, just like you need to ask for a BC card. Otherwise, they give you a standard ATM card. |

Well, I'll be in SE Asia, and I'll have other cards, so I should be OK.
At least I know that if the exchange rate is shite on my last day, I can just leave it here. 90% sure I'm returning anyway. |

like maddog said, you just need to ask for it and pay 3,000... it's strictly an atm card, not a debit card... i.e. no visa/mastercard logo... i'm going to taiwan, cambodia and thailand and i'll use the card in each country and post the results... i'm leaving tomorrow, so i'll let everyone know about taiwan friday... |

Yeah, I've got it. It's worked for me in Thailand, Japan, and the USA. You shouldn't have any problems. |

I must be behind the times.
I've been using the ATM to withdraw cash the last 5 years. I didn't even realize that when my new establishment signed me up with Daegu Bank that they gave me an IC card.
I didn't even ask for it. I guess the staff member I went with suggested it in Korean to the teller so that's what the 3,000 won was about.
Anyway, I'll still continue to withdraw a limited amount of money weekly. It's a good tool for budgeting, using the card for emergencies.
I just started using online banking last week. I got familiar with the cash machines. |

Get a Korean to translate the steps for you and then go home and try it out until successful. |
