This is great news for Cambodia and long overdue. Most Western NGOs in Cambodia do nothing but take advantage of the Khmers' poverty transmit evil, bullshit religions like Christianity and feminism to them and railroad random white males on trumped-up child sex charges, all the while living the Life of Riley with money they've looted from Western taxpayers. Many of their staff are walking caricatures of political correctness fat, ugly, crew-cut lesbians and the like. With their ejection, perhaps Cambodia will become suitable for human habitation again. It would be good if the Cambodians would just shoot them. I hope the current crisis doesn't effect their plans.

The end of an NGO era in Cambodia
By Craig Guthrie

PHNOM PENH - With an overwhelming electoral mandate, robust economy and a potential bounty of oil and gas revenues, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen feels in a strong enough position to move against the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which have been a perennial thorn in the strongman's side since he took power more than two decades ago.

In late September he called for the revival of a controversial law which would require the country's more than 2,000 associations and NGOs to complete a complex registration process and submit to stringent financial reporting requirements. The draft law is expected to be passed by Hun Sens Cambodia People's Party (CPP)-dominated National Assembly in the coming months.

"Cambodia has been heaven for NGOs for too long,"

About time. Them fat cats running around in their big LEXUS SUV's with LEXUS printed on the sides need to get JOB if they are too selfish actually help Cambodians. It's corruption at it's finest.

To compare the effectivness of NGO officers in Cambodia. They're like company executives in the US pocketing economic stimulus money as bonuses instead of using it to help solve the problem which I'm sure is happening.

I never really understood what an NGO really is. I mean most religions are governed in someway so I would think you could eliminate any religion base organization from the category.

The only motivation that an NGO should have is simply that task to which they are chartered. If the charter is religious or political bust it.

Religion are -isms like any other -ism.

An NGO is a Non-Governmental Organization. They often receive funding from both private sources and governmental grants. But their decision making process and activities are (more or less) independent of any government.

So you'd boot the likes of Soros and the Eurasia Foundation?

That's what the likes of Uzbekistan has been doing.

Considering the heinous corruption of the Cambodian government, I don't see how this is reason for rejoicing.

Hun Sen's latest manouvre in his 20 YEARS OF RULE has been uprooting entire communities and dumping them out of the city to grab land for development.

Did anyone actually read the article?

NGO's managed foreign aid that kept Cambodia afloat for years, and provides services the government isn't capable of. The NGOs are advocates for those dispossessed, and are a "thorn in the side" of Sen, because they keep pointing out the corrupt nature of his rule and demanding reform.

The NGOs mentioned include,

OXFAM
The Red Cross
The UNCF

NGO's are supporting agri-business, orphanages, schools, public health, combatting HIV etc etc...

I don't doubt some NGO employees/consultants have their nose in the trough - but I think people are being a bit gleeful over this - and are ignoring the good that has been, and is being done.

I'm some good has come out of them, but for the most part, NGO money pads the officers well. These jobs were always very hard to get, because they pay very well with many perks.

Hey, where did the post I was going to quote go? Oh well, I'll quote part of it anyway.

Quote:
Alot of people who complain about these NGOs seem to be those that are into unrestricted prostititution in Cambodia, sometimes with young girls/boys not even in their teens yet. We all know Christian and feminist groups oppose prostitution very strongly.

I don't think these evil cultists oppose prostitution at all. What they oppose is white males being able to get away with depriving the obscenely overpriced and underperforming prostitutes who constitute most Western wives of divorce settlements and child support extortion payments.

As far as people under some arbitrary age accepting money for sex, why the hell should this be any of the NGOs' business? If the local authorities don't like this then they can easily curtail it. And even here, the NGOs don't really oppose the industry. They don't try to shut down the brothels or go after the corrupt cops keeping them open. (If they did, they would probably be killed like they deserve). Non-Western men and women of any nationality patronizing child prostitutes would be home free. It is only Western, preferably white, males they are interested in railroading to please the flabby legions of Western soccer moms that support them.

If they really don't like children having sex then why don't they go and clean up Holland where they have a very low age of consent (12 or 14 I think) and a much more libertine attitude to sex? Oh wait, the Dutch are large, rich white people so they get to govern themselves.

What generally happens is that when one of these sex-police NGOs moves into a town in Cambodia they spend a fortune to keep themselves in the style to which they have become accustomed. Then they might bust a couple of actual pedophiles, but once they realize they are being targeted the rest will simply move elsewhere. However, the NGO can't just spend another fortune to follow them they have to justify their ongoing budget where they are. Hence they will set about entrapping and railroading a more or less random assortment of white guys.

When even that gets old they justify their rotten existence by running down Khmer society in politically correct fashion in the media. You know the drill all Khmer girls are being repeatedly raped by their fathers, all Khmer women are being beaten to a bloody pulp by their husbands blah blah blah. This pisses the Khmers off and increases hostility and violence against Westerners, and who are the main victims? Not of course the NGO creeps causing the problems in their guarded mansions but the average Joe Westerners just trying to live a good life and get of with the locals.

Seriously, the NGO people are just scum the worst the West has to offer. They are like the hideous skin eruptions indicating the presence of a deep systemic disease in Western society.

-This is NOT a simple issue at all. Almost EVERY public work, yes bridges, roads, museum restoration, entire HOSPITALS is funded by NGO's. Cambodia is a very, very poor country.
-In addition the ruling Cambodian Peoples Party is a vile, corrupt, bribing, group of ex-war criminals including out right Khmer Rouge party members.
-Lastly, there has been major work in cleaning up Cambodians under-age-sex criminal element. And this was helped by the modern NGO's. The UN days in the 90's were the start of this evil, and the country has really only cleaned up its act since then.
-Cornfed hates EVERYTHING in case we haven't noticed ...
