|
Out in Sinchon last night, around 3am myself and two other foreigners are looking for a certain bar. We ask a bunch of Koreans but nobody knows. None of us speak Korean very well.
So we see a group of 10-12 foreigners (english teachers), mostly white guys, a couple asian americans, and one white girl. So my friend goes up to them and asks if they know where it is. He chats with them for a minute and comes back to us. As he is walking back, one of them shouts a comment at him. I'm assuming it was a rude comment since the only word I heard was the last word, "BEE-YATCH". I ask my friend why that guy just called you a bitch, he said they were joking him about his jacket that made him look like a college freshman, And they were making fun of the collar on his shirt...
So my friend goes back up to them and words exchange and he comes walking back. They keep staring at us and then start to walk away. The whole time they are walking away they keep turning around and staring at us. So my friend flips them off and they just keep walking away and staring at us.
I mean if they wanted to fight, it probably wouldnt have been much of a fight since there were around a dozen of them and three of us.
So yea whats up with that?

Korea gives pathetic foreign losers a chance to get to the top of the pile...They revel in it and you see lots of behavior like that. |

If your friend is wearing a letter jacket and a popped collar, don't be surprised if he uses vinegar and water as a salad dressing. I wouldn't tell him where the good bar is either, I'd redirect him to somewhere more... d-bag friendly. |

It would have probally been worth an ass kicking to give the girl a black eye. A ten man dude crew looks even lamer when the one girl looks like she's been passed around.

You got stupid comments from drunk people roaming around the streets at 3am. Come on. You expect anybody to believe that. |

I don't deal with those kinds of foreigners mentioned above. However, some foreigners don't seem quite friendly. There were times when I saw some foreigners who thought might be lost and were looking at a map. They didn't say thank you or anything, though they didn't need any help. They almost looked annoyed that someone offered to help them. Of course, I know plenty of polite foreigners who are not rude. I don't think the foreigners here are especially rude.

I'm curious about the salad dressing comment. Wear a bad jacket and suddenly your choice of condiments is on trial? |

Vinegar and oil is a salad dressing. Vinegar and water is douche. I thought perhaps the guy looked like this:

In which case, in the places around here, he'd be turned out. |

I second the popped collar question. That makes any man look like a bitch. But the leather jacket? Not so much. |
