I've written a post on my blog breaking down an article I read from the Daejeon International Community Centre on some recent relaxations which apparently make it easier to get an E-2 Visa for those renewing after this year. I recommend reading it for anyone thinking of resigning or finding a new job.

unfortunately, your blog is just that - a blog.
you only offer your personal interpretation as opposed to providing actual interpretation from, say, an MOJ official
if you really want to be helpful - kindly provide more official interpretations and/or explanations. there will be a LOT of questions coming up as those of us who wish to change jobs under the new regulations will want to know what we can and cannot do.
for example, my contract is up in march and I want to change jobs - so what are my options - precisely? I don't wish - or need - an opinion but facts. |

The MOJ are notoriously vague even in their own official statements regarding Visa changes. Granted, my blog post doesn't go the full length but it does contain facts - the ones stated by the MOJ, and reported by the Daejeon International Community Centre - however vague they may be. I think making people aware of official statements is helpful.

Note that my post in the forum was titled 'Are people aware of recent E-2 Visa changes (Summer 0 ?' and not 'A comprehensive list of your options for changing jobs with the new E-2 visa regulations'. That's why you didn't get what you wanted there
My article was a blog post and I never said it was anything different. Hence the opinion aspect.
If anyone knows anything else or has had the changes clarified by an MOJ official then that would be helpful too. Please post here if you have. |

I doubt that you could get an exact interpretation from the immigration officials at this point, in fact I'd guess that their interpretation would vary greatly depending on who you asked, where they work, what time of day it was, what color your shoes are and probably a thousand other variables that should have no bearing on the situation.
I'm glad this is being discussed, but I'm not sure that changes have been made. Only immigration trying to clarify things that were unclear before.
But who knows really? |

Actually after reading it again it says these changes started from March 15th 2008. The title of the article is 'Simplification of documents in applying for an E-2(Foreign language instructor) Visa'. So changes were actually made. Should have mentioned that on the blog for claritify, I'll update my original post now.
I agree that if you asked an immigration official your answer would be somewhat subjective. In fact I very much doubt that a lot of them are actually clear on the changes in the first place.
For example when I got my new visa a month ago I didn't get the criminal check signed by a Solicitor and still had no problem getting a visa, yet was told later by others that they'd been told this was a necessary step (for getting it from UK anyway, not sure about other places). Like you say I bet it depends more on the dude and the day. |

Such language above eventually leads to a loss of posting privileges.
Just so you posters who think there is some green light to engage in profanity like crazy, that there are no consequences. |
