Ive got a friend who wants me to buy him a PS3 60gb while Im over here because he is certain it costs less. I have no idea if that is true or not and am not close enough to Techno Mart or Yongsan to go there just to price it. So, I ask you, what will an English version cost on average?

Well, you can switch it to English from the start, but some of the menu items still show up in Korean no matter what. He'll also be stuck with not being able to benefit from movie download services in the USA, most likely. I had a Japanese PS3, and couldn't do any of the Korean download service MegaTV.

Personally, I would tell your friend to buy it in the USA. He can get an 80gb model here and save $100, but would lose the USA movie download functionality since it's a Korean model. That's a big part of the future draw of a PS3, honestly.

I just read an article this morning about Black Friday and how it could have some of the best deals ever because of the money concerns and a dire outlook for retailers.

I saw a PS3 at Wal-mart being advertised for I believe $399 with a $100 Wal-mart gift card. 40 gig. Bottom line is, tell him to get it in the states. He will be sure it works, can bring it back if it doesn't or needs repair, and will play the games that he wants. Electronically, unless something is so cool and not yet in North America and might not be for another year or two, I (generally) wait until I get home to buy it. We have more retail competition and are more price conscious.
