I know plenty of people have taken their hagwon's to the labour board in order to collect money owed to them. What I;m wondering is, has anyone sued there former employee for wrongful termination and won?

If you're fired, first thing you need to do is get a new job then worry about suing.

To answer your question, yes. But collecting your money could take months and sometimes years.

And you need to make sure you get the firing in writing.

If it's not in writing then you quit when it comes time to go to court, or that's what your boss will say.

If you are fired, get it in writing; otherwise, keep working.
If you do get it in writing, file with labor and then go to Immigration to let them know that you are in the middle of a labor case.
If you don't do this, then your boss could lie to Immigration and tell them you quit and Immigration might issue you an exit order. These things happen.

Our idea of wrongful dismissal and the Korean version are NOT the same.

Here, wrongful dismissal means fired without proper notice.

If you have worked less than 6 months then you are gone.
Find a new job and start again. Move along.

IF you have been MORE THAN 6 months then you are entitled to 30 days notice OR 30 days pay (not both).

If you are fired in the 10th-11th month (so the school can avoid your airfare and severance) then you would have a valid claim even if you were given 30 days notice.

Actually I'm just toward the end of my ninth month (one more week). In the past two weeks they've started picking on me for very trivial and stupid things, i don't want to get into the details. Just wondering what my options are now and in the near future.

Also, i was talking to a Korean and she told me that according to Korean law, Employers have to give either 30 days notice 3 MONTHS pay. She seemed to know what she was talking about.

Anyone working legally in Korea has these protections, including teachers with less than 6 months in Korea. You can file with Labor.
