Can someone give me the Korean name for some of these spices? I want to order them online but I don't know what they are or how they're spelled.

(on a side note, if you know a place where they're sold, please let me know!)

- Cinnamon
- Allspice
- Nutmeg
- Powdered ginger
- Oregano
- Cumin
- Chili Powder

also:

- Gelatin (not Jello, plain gelatin)

Thanks in advance!

My local Home Plus now has cinnamon along with oregano and sage. I was so excited to see tomato sauce there too! It's the little things in life.

try homeplus, some emarts, basement at shinsegae, etc. you'll have a hard time finding some of these in korea, although cinnamon is everywhere, even very small neighborhood stores. It's next to the pepper. use fresh ginger.

cinnamon = 육계
allspice = 올스파이스 (I think)
nutmeg = 육두구의 종자
powdered ginger = 생강 가루
oregano = 오레가노
cumin = 커민
chili powder = 고추 가루
gelatin = 젤라틴 식품
salvia = 샐비어

Not sure about sage, though. Maybe 세이지 or something.

As much as I love using fresh ginger in things like stir fry, the recipe I need it for (a baked good) calls for powder...so you get the taste, not a chunk of it.

Also alpope, salvia is the same thing as sage, just the Italian/latin name for it Smile

Thanks to everyone!!
