|
|
Every now and then I get really bored while surfing the net and I google my own name. I first did this when I was in high school and I think one webpage came up. It was an article I had written so I felt moderately gratified. Years pass, every now and then I get the urge to google my own name, and pretty much the same things pop up (my article, a couple of pages with people sharing only my first name or only my last name, etc). Then one day I google my name and up and comes this DOCTOR who has the same name as me!! This widely published, incredibly successful DR. has her name all over the internet and she is making me look terrible! Shes a member of something called the Einstein faculty for Christs sake!! I hate her little over-achieving ass!
My point is, does anyone have any good stories about when they google their own name? And I know you do it, you cannot lie to me. |

When I was in high school, we had to chip our names onto a slate. |

Yeah I've got some top Dr. who has published all this research sharing the same name as me (including my middle name) and he also has the same date of birth! I mean come on.
Was tempted to get in touch just to point this out, but it would be something of a stilted, one way conversation me thinks;
"Hello. You don't know me but it turns out we share the same name and date of birth."
"That's nice, Goodbye." |

Sure I do it! Sadly for me my bike race results that were really good were right about the starting time that kind of stuff was getting posted then I had a bad accident and now my results...well...suck. The point being that sometimes when you say something, people feel compelled to Google it and that can be bad and that can be good.
I am also a world class stage lighting director! Go ME, or my other me. |

You must get in contact with him! That is a cool thing of magnolia proportions. I'd want to know you exist if I were him. |

I found myself cited once in a university paper. What I had written was just humorous speculation for my newspaper column. I think the person just did a Lexis Nexus search, found the quote she/he wanted, and then cited along the lines that I "found American voters stayed away from the ballot box because they were offered too much choice." |

I think it must be a doctor thing. I too have a doctor with my exact same name AND birthday. The thing is, I met her once, quite by accident.
I was at a hair salon in Ohio, and was waiting for my name to be called. The beautician came out, called my first name, and we both stood up. She then said my first and last name, and we both answered. Of course, she then continued with the whole name, and we both were amazed to answer again. She had to distinguish between us by using our address.
I have been to a different hair salon in the years since, and found that she has been to that one as well. I always have to give my address.
Very strange! |

My real name is the same as a famous actor, googling myself is useless.
If I google Underwaterbob I get all kinds of weird stuff from years ago that I forgot I even did. Not to mention the annoying scuba diving outfit that stole my nick. |

I tried that once as well and a chill went up spine...
Found four guys with the same name.
One, an English (Scottish? Can't remember) writer about the same age.
Two, a company manager in California about the same age.
Three, an enlisted U.S. Army Sergeant stationed in Iraq of similar age.
Four, an enlisted U.S. Marine stationed in Iraq but younger than myself.
Then there's me. I'm also as U.S. Army vet.
Guys Three and Four were killed in Iraq... |

I remember seeing or hearing about a quick google trick where you google your first name followed by "needs" and the results are often accurate, if not humorous. |
