Charity concert to aid orphanage
Is there any better time to do some volunteer work or make a donation than during the Christmas season?
American Danny Oh doesnt think so. His expat volunteer organization PLUR is organizing a benefit concert for underprivileged children and families in Korea to make their Christmas a happier one.
We are also collecting dolls and toys to donate to orphanages around Seoul, Oh said.
The Los Angeles, California native -- in Korea since May -- is the brains behind PLUR, which is short for peace, love, unity, respect.
The concert will take place at Freebird in Hongdae, Seoul. Freebird is a hotspot in the live music scene.
Oh added that if people want to make toy donations, they can drop them off at Freebird.
The owner of the venue is giving us the space for free on Dec. 13 at 11 p.m. We will have live music by local bands and were also in the works of having Drunken Tiger, Korean hip-hop artisit perform as well, he said.
PLUR regularly visits orphanages, hosts charity fund-raising events and, on every other Friday feeds the homeless. They have also helped the homeless that camp out in subways stations late at night.
PLUR is asking for a suggested donation of a 15,000 won cover. But Oh said it is going to a great cause and that charge even includes one free beer or non-alcoholic beverage.
Any questions or comments, please feel free to contact Danny Oh at 010-2891-7180 or email at [email protected]
