I think LG deserves Kudos for the excellent service they have been providing to the English speaking community. Just got my monthly phone bill: 14,670 total ( I don't make many outbound calls). My phone is one of the nicer ones with all the bells and whistles. I paid 30,000 for it. (All I needed was my ARC. No hassles). They have excellent customer service in English and there are no hidden charges.
Now, if the banks would just get their act together.... |

haha I totally agree,
I love how my phone is pretty much like anyone I can get at home, except this one has MP3 and a decent camera.
Everything's in English and it has a dictionary, subway map, everything in English.
It's a dream come true. I think all English speaking foreigners should give them our business as they are truly making huge changes for us.
If only the individual store reps spoke english.... |

Speaking of which I hate Sk telecom...my monthly bill is 50k+ on a cell phone plan....and my phone was the cheapest model...It's the one area I was really disappointed with my school. |

You're getting ripped. I think you might be able to dump it. How much longer on your SK contract?

I second...........no.............maybe third it.
I chose LG because people told me it is the most foreigner friendly telecom in Korea.
Since Trevor and Goku have covered most what I wanted to say. I would only add one thing:Their excellent after service.
My CP went into a coma inexplicably 2 weeks ago, it showed to be connected to the network, but no reaction to any operation.
I went to the LG service center, it took me only 5 minutes to have it fixed, I originally expected I have to leave it there and pick up several days later.
It was great~!

2 years...and I found out later the phone isn't free! They've been charging me 12 bucks a month for this crappy thing....
My bill is $50-$60 a month....serves me right for getting a phone my first week with the dumbest co-teacher...she walks into the first SK telecom next to the school and gets me a plan from some guy who is dressed like a Yakuza...
Luckily my other awesome co-teacher and another teacher are gonna get my contract and see what it says so maybe they can sort it out....get me a better phone and lower my bill.
I figured I was getting hosed...but it was my first week! I just assumed it was the norm since my co-teacher appeared to know what she was doing.
Anybody have any idea of what I can do...is it possible to cancel a cell phone contract early on? |

You might be interested to know that LG Electronics is really trying to globalize. The CEO speaks very good English, the CTO lived in America for a long time (and I think worked for GE for awhile) and as of last year the company has a Scottish CHO (HR) American CMO (Marketing) and over 50% of its executive officers are either American or grew up in western countries.
In addition, LG is hiring its top staff in foreign countries where it operates plants, as opposed to the way Korean companies generally bring in Korean management to run operations. |

+1
LG rule. SK can lick my balls. Charging 40K for a second hand phone which I had to take into an SK store every 3 months. I also purchased it in my first week with my co teach.
