i pay over 850,000 for my studio in apgujeong. you'll be paying A LOT for a two bedroom in gangnam (or a two bedroom in any of the surrounding areas). someone else can be more specific with price ranges, but that's an incredibly expensive place. i'm interested to see the numbers myself. |

I had a 28 pyong 2 bedroom in Daechi. With 20 million down I was paying 1.4/month. The place wasn't the best.
If your looking for a high quality place expect to put 30~50 million down. and pay 1.5 ~ 2.5 a month. |

Housing is much cheaper on the North side of the river. It's only like 600m across so one can still be "near gangnam" but on the north side. Find an area you could see yourself living in and visit as many real estate agents in the area as you can. Tell them how much you have to spend and they'll show you what they have.
Itaewan isn't all that far from Gangnam really. And it's about the most affordable place going. I guess it depends on your definition of "near" eh.. |

I have a 2 bed villa in Gangnam - 10m deposit and pay 1.3m a month. I used a great estate agent as well - lovely man who speaks really good English:

If the going rate in Gangnam is a bit high for you, take a few minutes and check out the congamul bus website (there is an English version). Locate where you will be working and find the nearest blue bus stop. Find any blue busses that go north across the river in a fairly direct manner. Look for a place on that bus line on the north side of the river. A 10-15 min ride will cut your prices in half, at least. 30 minutes and you can probably find a 2 bedroom for 5-10mil down and 500-600/month. |
