I am going to get my next job in June 09. This job ends in May 09.
My recruiter is going to find me a job at another elementary school with GEPIK. I'm currently in Bucheon. The next job will be in Bundang.
The locals in Bucheon are fairly ignorant, I don't think they've met many foreigners.
I've heard lots of good things about Bundang. Please tell me what your view is on Bundang, assuming you've been there.
Shopping information e.g. western-style cheese and other relevant points will be helpful.
Thank you. |

It's a dump and is really nothing to get excited about. Transportation has gotten worse, and with all the new developments in Pangyo, it will only get worse. Emart, Lotte Mart, Samsung Plaza and Homeplus hardly have any imported food anymore. Kids are spoiled and don't take too kindly to foreigners since a lot of them have studied abroad. They tend to be arrogant and if you're teaching at a public school, don't expect to receive much respect. The elementary school curriculum will bore them since they already know it all. If I were you, I'd either stay in Bucheon or go to somewhere like Ilsan. |

Its allright here mate - depends where you end up of course but it has all the amineties and western style luxuries that you might need. It's a bit souless as most of the place is less than 20 years old but I like it.
I love the kids I teach - a lot of them have lived in North America at some point and are great. This will depend on the school you end up at. How they will act and percieve you is more of a lottery than anything else. |

We've been living in Bundang since July...absolutely love it.
For shopping necessities...it's close to the Gangnam side of Seoul...meaning COEX, Yangjae's Costco...and there's always I Love Cookie in Jeongja...if you're willing to spend a few extra bucks. Jeongja is worth a few visits anyways...great dining all over the place...Butterfinger Pancake is a must for breakfast every now and then too.
Jamsil is close...take in a ball game during the season...Yatap has a soccer stadium...Yatap also has an Express Bus Terminal...you can get out of town pretty easy. We have friends in Daejeon...it takes us about 90 minutes on the Express Bus.
The Subway gets you to Itaewon, City Hall, Yongsan, and Seoul Station easily...yellow line to orange line to where you need to connect. Or hit the green line to Gangnam easily. Airport express buses at all subway stops...also KTX express buses if you need to get to the train stations quickly.
Good luck with your move...I think you'll like it here. |

Thank you. I am looking forward to a change. I don't think I will ever stay at the same school for more than a year again, unless I come across something special.
It takes a year for people to get sick of me. Two years is too long. |

I just started my second year in Bundang. I like it here too. There is also some great hiking in and around where you don't have to travel too far and many of the kids have some sort of English background.
You can get into Seoul pretty quickly, the red buses can take you to itaewon in less than a half hour and most people I have met go into Seoul to party on the occasional weekend.
There are also a lot of foreigners in the larger subway stops which is a bonus.
If you can post where in Bundang you will be staying we can give you some better information...some places can be quite far out and away from civilization. |

When the recruiter tells me where the job is, I'll post it on here. Thanks. |
