Ok.

I've been given some links to sites on how to do html linking.

They teach the basic string of code into which you can insert the address and display text. (Method A)

This seems time consuming and unnecessary for Dave's as you can just cut and paste the address into the reply or post and you automatically get a workable link (Method B).

But when inserting a web address into word documents or emails, when I try method A, and then check the results of my action, I just see the code that I typed.

Question 1: For inserting addresses into documents/emails - what to do? Why is the code not automatically translated into an underlined link?

Question 2: Just wondering why another poster on Dave's advised me to follow method A (complicated) when method B is so much easier?

here is the code I used:

1: Because most text editors and e-mail programs read things in plain text. You can send e-mail as HTML or have your document editor recognise URLs, but it's not always enabled by default.
