I need to buy a space heater because the ondol does not function well, even after the gas man came to look at it. I need advice as my place is old and I am afraid that when I plug it in, it will trip everything and the there will be a power outage. I know nothing about space heaters. Also, I just need it to keep me warm while working on my computer - do not need it to warm up the whole place

PLug it in; it'll be fine. Bear in mind a small one will use 500 watts or more. Electric heat is pricy.

Get a propane or kerosene space heater and make sure you get one with a good fan.

Propane tanks and kerosene are delivered in Korea.

Don't use one of those floor-standing fan-type heaters that look like an air fan, but blow no air while glowing and reflecting heat. Those things are DANGEROUS! I've personally seen where two caught fire, and heard of a third doing the same.

They shouldn't even be allowed!

They are a bit more pricey, but the best (and most comfortable) heaters by far are the one that look like an old-fashioned steam radiator. They have an oil inside that heats up electrically. The heat is not instant, but gets warm after maybe 5 minutes. They really feel cozy, and don't dry the air out like other heaters do.

Not a space heater - granted but I have seen flat cushion sized electrical heaters at E-mart.

The sort you can plug it in and sit on it!

Its just basically a cushion with copper wire running through it, one of those + a decent hat + slippers sounds like a better idea to me.

I think they were about w20,000 or 30,000.

Ya, this is definitely the most economic and the safest option.

I fire up one or two of the gas burners on the cooktop and use my summertime fan to circulate the heat around my place. 10 mins, toasty warm.

DO NOT do this when you are drunk or falling asleep. I warned ya Wink
