| What exactly are love hotels , and are they really a cheap place to stay in other parts of Korea? |

Love hotels are what they sound like. A place where Koreans take their love interests for some privacy. Usually W30,000-40,000 a night. More on weekends. Sometimes it's difficult to get a room on the weekend as they prefer to rent them out by the hour. Located all over the country.
Yeogwans are usually a bit cheaper with fewer amenities. Look for the sign that says 여관.
In some touristy areas you'll find minbaks and pensions instead. I've never stayed in either, so I can't comment on price or quality. |

No such thing as "love hotels" -- you mean "love motels" which are ubiquitous & include every staying place with "motel" in its name.
They're generally reasonable & pleasant. Lots of amenities provided. Hint: newer-looking = nicer.
"Hotels" on the other hand tend to charge twice as much with less on offer.
You choose. |
