I got an email about this school and nothing came up dave's search. I looked a little bit on a website related to the brand of schools and it said they have around 10 or so schools in Seoul and one somewhere else.
So whats the deal |

Apparently they have a few in Japan as well. A quick google search didn't reveal much outside of China. I quit looking quickly.... |

website: www.maplebear.ca
It has some pretty good information, but the idea of having to work Saturdays was a deal breaker. Not to mention that having to teach kindy students all day could quite possibly be the death of me... To each their own I suppose! |

Maplebear isn't a bad company, if you enjoy long hours. The curriculum isn't half bad, and the students are usually pretty good for the most part. I used to work at the Maplebear in Bundang. Imae-dong to be precise. It's really good experience if you plan to go back to Canada and teach, it is a wake up call. I prefer to not work long hours though, and left pretty much for that sole reason. Silly, I know. |

Just to point out as a soon to be employee- the schedules are 9-5 and 12-7. While this is long hours to many, myself included, it is a standard 8 hour day. |

How is the money for that standard 8 hour day? |

varies depending on experience of course, but 2.2-2.5 I believe. Nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. Maybe I'm biased as I currently work an 11 hour shift in a Mexican University, but 8 hours, 9-5, is not bad. |

The teaching hours are not that bad, but ba aware that there is a lot of work to do outside of class. lots of things to prep (as in create from scratch) and progress reports (detailed report cards) which are due every 2 months. Depending on the school that you go to, there will also be parent teacher interviews every two months following the reports. For the most part there is someone in the meeting to help translate if needed, but it's still on you to do. That was a big thing for me, I'm not a fan of dealing with parents. |
