I'm thinking about buying a laptop; some of you may have seen my thread asking how to go about getting a (new) non-Korean laptop here:

But since I don't need much out of a laptop, it occurred to me that a used one, say a year old or so, might suit me just fine. Are there any used-laptop shops in Busan, Changwon, or Masan? (I don't know enough Korean to shop online for a used laptop, and I'm hoping to avoid bothering my Korean acquaintances with this one)

Buying a used laptop is a crapshoot. You might be better to get a new one, since they're not that much more expensive. Like the poster in the thread you quoted I got an HP laptop and they loaded an English version of Windows for it with no problems.

Prior to that I bought a used laptop for $500 and it lasted for 3 months. Cost me another $250 to fix it and it broke again straight away (burned out video card). So, $750 for 3 months' use; much better to buy new in my opinion. For $1,100 I have a perfectly adequate HP laptop with English and if it lasts me more than 6 months I'm getting better value for money than I did with the secondhand one, especially since this one has a warranty.

Yes, you are almost certainly right; I'll probably end up buying new, but I thought it might be worth a few hours of my time if I could see a single shop that had loads and loads of used laptops; I've heard there are such shops in Seoul, but I wouldn't be surprised not to find one elsewhere. Thanks for your anecdote.

You know, I lived in Gumi 2008. I went into a computer repair store and bought a used laptop for 150,000 won.

It has cd player, 1 usb, what i do use for wireless internet or usb flash drive. It has the floppy drive.

I loaded office xp. and it still works fine 14 months later.

Granted it doesnt have the dvd burner, cd burner and so on. But it types office documents, plays cd's and surfs the web.

So what I am saying is you can find good deals on used laptops.

I also have a desktop state of art at my house for other things.

Yes I'm going to poke around the computer shops in Busan next week, you never know what I might find.

Right now, if I go for a brand new laptop, I'm leaning towards Dell 1525

how much would it cost to buy a laptop over the internet in Korea?

I bought mine from lenovo direct online in the States and it has suited me well.
