Not true as much as I found when I was in Changwon last year. Despite there being much fewer foreigners in Gangwondo, I actually have a few friends and they don't drink much. In Changwon, I was around many foreigners and it was a big drinking scene and I really didn't have any friends. The only ones I knew that didn't get sh*tfaced regularly were 2 married to Koreans with small children.

Gangwon tends to draw the quieter bunch who don't care so much about going out to a bar regularly nor having all that material stuff like strobing neon lights and interesting stores. Entertainment consists of mostly downloading movies and TV shows and sometimes visiting or chatting with other teachers locally who your friends with. You might also be going mountain hiking on some weekends with new friends.

You can bet, many of those who picked Gangwon are more level headed and will save more money than the norm for teachers in the cities.

Gangneung has a wicked night life area and a good group of foreigners around....know many people living in gangneung.

but youll only find em by getting out there mate.

also other places include chuncheon, wonju, donghae for bigger cities with things to do.

donghae has whores, the slowest dunkin donuts in the world, a good pork/beef place, and mongolian foreign students. What else does a man need?
