My cool cat Hagwan Director criticises Korea all the time whilst everyone else lies about how great things are.

yesterday he said I *ucking hate the obstacles government here create, Korea gets so many things wrong i wish i lived somewhere else.

Koreans criticize their own country all the time. A business owner criticizing government obstacles? Meh.

I'm learning Mandarin, so I do lang. exchanges with a couple Koreans, both of whom have lived outside Korea for 6mo-1 year. Their vitriolic takes on this country and their hatred for their ajeossi bosses would make the most bitter Dave's vet blush.

My ex-hagwon boss once said "God must have been very drunken when he made Korean women."

My hagwon boss asked me why I'd want to come here from China. And he's said things like (re my penny-pinching landlord) "Even for a Korean, she is bad!"

Lol I love this one. Of course Koreans critisise Korea, just not always in front of FTs. I know I critisise my own country and I'm sure everyone else does too at some point.

My wife always talks about the 2% factor, everything in Korea is done with at least 2% missing so it doesnt quite work the way it should.

hmm. interesting. I have heard a lot of things from Korean friends.
They are very upset about alot of things the govt does. Some have even gone as far to say that democracy isn't here yet. The Education system isn't indicative of any sort of democracy here. Poor people get poor education and are slaves of the system wereas the elite circumvent the system and become the slave owners.

- They hate the system that is based on looks but not on substance.
- They think korea can never have open dialogue about anything as it is too dicatorial with decisions.
- Too much emphasis on tests and usless degrees ( Korean degrees are mostly invalid anywhere else in the world.)

My father-in-law spent three years in prison for criticising Korea.

A Yonsei university prof told me about the anti-US beef protests:

"When I see those protestors, I don't want to be Korean anymore. I'm so ashamed of my country because of them."

Shocked

And the guy is pro-Korea as you can get!

This was the same guy who I once had a talk with regarding WWII. I said that although I understand the arguments for why the U.S. dropped the bomb on Japan, the fact that it happened didn't make me feel very good.

He said "No, no, no!! You should have dropped many, many more!"
