Do you mean Guro or Guri? The latter is actually just outside of Seoul and there isn't much there.
Guro is in Seoul and is well connected to buses and subways. |

Guri is on the subway line. Its on the east edge of Seoul. It has a KFC, a 24 hour McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, and an Outbacks. Plenty of bars to choose from. There's an Emart and Lotte Mart. There's a boxing gym and Russian Sambo academy. A couple gyms/fitness clubs. Its easy to find Korean restuarnts that charge around 5,000 won for dinner. |

I live there... It's a pretty quiet city. It's easy to get to Seoul if you want to do weekend partying, or shop for foreign food. There are lots of good and cheap places to eat. E-mart and Costco are nearby. You'll never want for anything here. There's movies, shopping, everything.
The foreign community is not super big, but they do hang out together at a local bar on Wednesday nights. Check out the Guri group on Facebook.
You'll most likely use the bus sustem more than the subway, so start learning to read Korean, NOW. The ability to read will make your life so much easier.(Don't have to pronounce it correctly, just read it. The alphabet is pretty easy to learn, so don't fret)
There is a good church at the begining of town with English services in the afternoon. They also offer free Korean lessons on Saturdays at 11 to anyone that wants to attend. The name is Doorae Church. The leaders and members there are very friendly and helpful. |

It's easy enough there, and not long on bus into Chamsil, one of the best areas of Seoul in my opinion. |
