ok - here is the problem.
i connect to 2 different networks, my home network and my network at my school.
i have the connections set up. one, OCN (for my home connection) and SCHOOL (yes, my school).
when i get to work, i have to do this fucking annoying shit where it automatically connects to both networks for whatever reason. the only way i have been able to figure out how to fix this is:
1. right click the connection and click "disable".
2. right click the connection again and click "diagnose"
3. wait for what could be as long as a minute for the computer to do the same thing it does every fucking day
4. message comes up "LAN adapter is not enabled. click "enable" to enable adapter." click.
5. internet/LAN works.
but now that i have a new home connection, i get a pop up window every 3-4 minutes that is like the old windows dialup thing. "connect to OCN"
i could be typing away in MS word, and this stupid popup will come up, sometimes not for a long time, but other times every 10 seconds or so. it'll keep coming up, and it's aggravating if i'm in the middle of some arduous paperwork. i'd just disconnect but i use the printer a lot.
i have looked high and low in windows network settings to try and alleviate this problem, like to see if there is a way i can disable my home network while i'm at work, and to no avail.
and what's even more annoying is that i connect to the same 2 different networks EVERY DAY and they still don't recognize my "school" network automatically.
it makes me want to go to www.cuteoverload.com and kill every last animal they have posted on their blog with a rake. |

Visata has way too many security features for the average user. I can understand Vista Business having all these security restrictions, but I've got HOME Premium and it treats me like a freaking burglar everytime I use it.
Networking is just one aspect of it. |

I'm assuming you're talking about wireless here. Here's some things to try if you haven't already...
Goto your "Network and Sharing Center"
-There you'll see the name of the network you're on and a "Customize" button. If you click on Customize, you can merge or delete network locations. Try fiddling around with that, for example deleting all networks other than your home and school.
-Back in the Network and Sharing Center, below Customize is a "View Status" button. If you click that, then "View Wireless Properties", you have options like "Connect automatically when this network is in range" and "Connect to a more preferred network if available". Try altering those and see what the results are. |
