Is there anyone that could tell me in order(1,2,3etc) from the cities below which offers the best criteria for the following,1. Offers several subway depots spread throughout the city and /or buses that get you to the depots in a short time or maybe even walking distance? 2. The shortest time to get to Seoul from each location overall? ( I realize it depends upon where in Seoul) The cities are, Bucheon, Suwon, Bundang,Islan/Goyang, and Ansan.
Thanks |

| I think they are sort of similar in that they all basically have one subway line running through with a number of stations, and obviously buses running to each station. It depends where you want to go in Seoul, but Bucheon is maybe the closest, Suwon the furthest out, and Goyang has a rail line connected to the subway system which I have never used but it doesn't seem very convenient. |

If your primary concern is proximity to Seoul, might be worth considering Seoul itself.
Regarding those locations.
It all depends on where in Seoul you want to go.
Direction relative to Seoul:
Bucheon:West
Ilsan: North West
Ansan: South West
Suwon: South
Bundang: South East
All places have subway access to Seoul, all have bus routes to Seoul and Suwon is on the train line to Seoul. Check out http://www.smrt.co.kr/Eng/index.jsp and click on the interactive subway map for the times from place to place. Bare in mind, a lot will depend on your location relative to the subway station etc.
For example, Bucheon is 17minutes from Guro station, while Suwon is 34-44minutes (depending which station) from Guro (the subway trains from those 2 locations meet at Guro). However, if in Bucheon you need to walk 5 minutes to a bus, then wait 5mins for the bus and then take a 10min bus trip to the station then walk 5 minutes, then wait 5mins for the subway vs living 5mins from the subway station in Suwon then the actual travelling time will be much of a muchness, yet would be more convenient in Suwon. If the reverse applied, then you would be far better off in Bucheon.
Subway coverage is not universal in these cities, as the previous poster said they usually have 1 line running through them with a couple of stops. Suwon for example has a population of 1.1mill and a size of 120sq KM, yet only 4 subway stops. Seoul on the other hand has an area of 500sqKM yet over 100 subway stops...meaning you are far more likely to be far from a subway station in Suwon than in Seoul. |

Let me see if I understand what you are saying, first of all if I live in Bucheon or Suwon I will have to get to Guro station then take Guro to where I want to go in Seoul? If I live in Bucheon, while it will take a shorter time to travel from Guro station to Seoul I will have to take three different buses while living in Bucheon to get to the subway depot which will get me to Guro. If I live in Suwon it will take a 5 minute walk to get to a subway depot which in turn will take me to Guro station. The only difference is once in Guro station it will take about 40 minutes to get to a certain part of Seoul from Suwon?
All things considered I do not mind traveling on a bus to get to the subway depot, but I am not looking to change three different buses to gain access to the depot. If I had to pick three choices in order among Bucheon, Suwon, Ansan and Ilsan/Goyang what order would you put these choices in going by the criteria I gave you?
Thanks |
