ha ha ha Laughing Laughing it's SOOOO cute !!!!

about 2 foot tall, lights and decorations already on it - of course it's plastic duh Rolling Eyes

but I love it - lots of silver bows Laughing Laughing

15,000 won - hey - and can be used again next year (or not!)

so if you are interested - here's the directions:

Sinchon station - on the green line - the one near Hongdae (think there's more than one)

Exit 8 walk straight towards the traffic light - Hyndai Dept Store is across the street

just before the light, you'll see a little flower shop - the streets are crowded, lots of stores etc, vendors, shoppers - but you'll see his little trees if you are looking; he has some out front.

*and he has some smaller ones - maybe 1 ft - for 10,000 won - if you are really cheap or don't have much space Laughing

these are the kind that once they're sold, that's it - no more - !! in fact, I don't believe I've seen these before because it really is my FIRST Christmas tree here in Korea - even tho I've spent several here.

HO HO HO everyone - !!! am gettin' in the spirit already !! Laughing

I have a big pot plant (as in a plant in a pot, not anything illegal) with student-made paper chains draped on it. I like to get into the festive mood when I'm far from home.

It's gutting that there aren't more Xmas lights around. The Koreans do neon so brilliantly, why not make a big show of it at this time of year?

You mean...

to get a Christmas tree I have to go to Hyundai Department Store in Seoul and it has to be that exact Hyundai Department Store...because it's not like every department store or mart in the country has cheap plastic made in china Christmas trees...........

or maybe I could just take a clicks on gmarket and get the same tree you bought for 6,000 won.

I put mine up last night, too. I bought lights from Thailand last year for it. They have a colored burlap ball around each light, so the lights glow as opposed to shine. It was the hit of the neighborhood. Very Happy

I want to put mine up but I am afraid that my cat will eat it. What to do? I'm thinking I'll decorate on Christmas day with the cat under heavy supervision, invite people over, party, and then take it all down to save myself the hassle and my cat a trip to the vet.

I hauled out all my Christmas decorations today and as soon as I plugged in the lights, the cat started chewing on them. When that happened, I unplugged them and put them away for the day. I'm going to have to lock him in another room while I put stuff up. He's very mischievous.

I'm just saying, they're not exactly hard to come by.
They come in a box. Does it matter if it's bought in person or off the internet? It's still just cheap made in china crap. And, I'm not a Grinch, you're just playing the part of Columbus.

Laughing Laughing

that's funny - these are plastic - do they still try and eat those?!

here's a favorite Christmas story I love to tell -

some years back when it was my son, me and our dog - we were invited to 2 different dinners for Christmas day. We had a very big - maybe 6 ft - tree in the living room and some of the decorations were popcorn and cranberry strings -

Our dog we usually took everywhere with us but considering the chaos with family dinners and the distance I needed to drive (she'd probably get sick in the car from the under-the-table snacking!) I chose to leave her home.

We arrived back pretty late and the tree was laying flat on the floor! Virtually every popcorn had been eaten off but the cranberries were still there - ! Of course we knew she'd done it but when we called her she wouldn't come.

Finally we found her under my son's bed cowering in fear - probably because when the tree fell over it scared the living sh*t out of her!!

of course we reassured her she was ok and she soon recovered her trauma - taking care to avoid the tree - and every future Christmas tree - Laughing Laughing

I just get annoyed when people think their "discovery" it's the most amazing thing ever when it's obvious they just never leave the house Very Happy
Of course, that statement is rather ironic considering that I purchased my tree on the internet....
But, for example, this girl who lives near complained to a whole bunch of people that she hadn't a decent cup of coffee in over a year. Now, I've been drinking freshly roasted coffee here for 3 years...and every chance I get I inform people about it. Some people just prefer to live their lives ina hole I suppose.

For anyone wanting a christmas tree or christmas cards--they are easy to find. Just go to any department store (hyundai, lotte, shinsagae, NC) or to homeplus. You can also find a huge selection of Christmas cards in Hot Trax stores which are usually near major book stores--ie. Kyobo.

why do you have to be such a freakin' ahole???

NO they are NOT all over the place - !! and many people - myself included - avoid department stores like the plague - especially here in Korea where they are overpriced, overpopulated and underventilated boxes of tinder just waiting to go up in smoke Shocked

SOME people like to buy from independent sellers - SOME people actually enjoy shopping for the sake of shopping - and SOME people do NOT know where to go, or where to find these items since SOME people just arrived or haven't been here for Christmas yet.

so go back inside your little GRINCH hovel and count your won saved like the SCROOGE you are - and let people have some FUN - which obviously you know nothing about - !!
