My husband and I got our tickets for 620 each (return). I really like the nextour site, it is the Korean version of travelocity. You will have to get someone who knows Korean to help you. Also, don't be swayed and get over excited (like I did) about the really low cost flights (300 return). Most of them are for Thai workers only.

Hope this helps!

Not to troll out on you, but to just be frank. Might that ticket be refundable in the event of a coup or civil war causing the airport to be shut for a longer while?

I want to use Bangkok as a hub base too and get cheap Air Asia flights to see other places I haven't been, but it's becoming too unstable for the time being.

I suspect prices will be going down anytime as Suwannapoom international airport is shut due to rising tensions from the PAD making all these violent threats. Fights and hostility are happening in Bangkok while the tourists are stranded.

Thai airways lets you refund your ticket all the way up until 3 hours prior to the flight. If it is still unstable prior to going, I will refund it later. Till then I am going to wait it out....it seems that there is always some sort of war right before the high season, and then it ends.

Kool, does this refund policy still apply if the ticket is bought through a travel agent instead of the airline? I like Thai air, they let me extend my ticket home 2 more months for no extra charge. I went a year ago and there were no troubles going on, everyone seemed very happy, and at peace. It was a real positive vibe kind of environment all over Thailand, except the very far South which they warned not to go to. I traveled around SEA for 2 1/2 months last Winter and just had the time of my life. This time, I'd like to go Myanmar, Laos, and check out some more of Thailand.

Yes, I hope they stop the non sense and get back to work soon. Of course, it's not the average working class people in tourism causing trouble, I understand it's wealthy people who are not very motivated to make things work out. Of course, you can always go to Bali, Australia, or elsewhere with 3 weeks off.
