|
|
My co-teacher did not have the answer to this.
I am finishing my contract in February. Will my school give me up to 1,000,000 for a one-way flight out of Korea plus the new signing bonus of 1,300,000 (from the EPIK website)?
I would assume this is how it would be done as they are no longer paying for flights. But, we all no what happens when one assumes.
Anyone else in the same situation have an answer to this question? |

| Your old contract still stands. If you aren't re-signing, why would the new contract affect you? Isn't full airfare covered in the EPIK contract? So you should just have to supply the school with the receipt for your airfare. |

Renewing or not, the present contract has no monitary cap on airfares. Where do you come up with the W1,000,000 figure to go home?
They MUST pay for flights (either by reimbursement, or 'up front' through GTR) anywhere, so long as they are equal to or less than the distance home. |

Sorry, maybe my post was a little confusing. I am re-signing. That is why I was asking about the re-signing bonus.
I realize my current contract has nothing to do with the new contract. However, my current contract states that my employer will pay for a one-way ticket home. The new contracts do not offer airfare.
So, am I entitled to a one way ticket home, plus 1.3 million won? Or will they just give me the value of a round trip ticket home? For me, it works out better to get the value of a one way ticket home plus 1.3 million signing bonus. I know that is not the case for everyone. |

The 1 million won figure comes from my contract. I am with Epik in a provincial town and their contract is a little different. However, the new contract is identical to what is posted on the Epik website. |

What does your present contract say about renewing and airfare? That's the only thing that counts!
If you're renewing, you can't treat is as though you're not. |
