In previous threads and blacklist sites, I have indicated that YBM B2B has been extremely disorganized and unprofessional, however, USUALLY pays on time.
Based on numerous PM's and personal accounts, sadly they have moved over to the AVOID AT ALL COSTS list, or at the very least BE VERY CAREFUL.
More specifically:
http://www.worknplay.co.kr/jobseeker/jobSearchView.php?jobNum=175615&start=&page=3
2. Dong-Incheon, Incheon (line #1)
Mon~Fri, tentatively 1pm~6pm (Business English F2/F4)
1 position available
F4 visa holder must be bilingual
Business/Economy major & background highly preferred
Some Teaching experience preferred
No Housing Provided
Start: January (6 mos. contract)
3. Dongdaemun Stadium, Seoul (line #2,4,5)
Mon ~ Fri 1:00-6:00pm (Business English F2 only)
Business/Economy major & background highly preferred
Some Teaching experience preferred
No Housing Provided
Start: December (6 mos. contract)
This pathetic excuse of a contract averages at 23,000-28,000won per hour with zero job security, and ridicluous expectations. Basically, anything YBM tells you about the conditions of the contract GET IT IN WRITING. Everything they tell you will be FALSE. Once again, they have no idea what they are doing, and want to find some patsy who will fall for yet another scam.
Will it ever end . . . . |

I applied for a PT job teaching business English through YBM.
After like a month I had no reply. All of a sudden I get a phone call, and the YBM guy is like, "we need you to start this evening. "
I told him hell no.
I'm guessing they skipped over me for some other guy. That guy quit the job early because it sucked, and they are just cold calling everyone that sent a resume to pick up the shift. |

I have been called in by many contracted companies to fix many of YBM's screw ups, and salvage their half ass Business English programs (either independently or through my company).
This latest one takes the cake. I'll disclose more in due time . . .
Sadly, some F2/F4's are still gobbling up YBM's scraps and bullshit. |

No housing provided.
That's pretty bad. Seoul is the most expensive city in the world to live in IF you have to pay for your residence. |

After consulting with my legal counsel, I will be able to disclose more detailed information on this specific case later this week. (Sounds strange I know, however, there are libel laws here).
On a general note, it never ceases to amaze me how agencies in Korea believe they can create a revolving door of instructors (to suit their financial needs), even if the agency's contracted companies are satisfied with instructors' services. In other words, MANY agencies often replace their competent, seasoned instructors if they can find someone who is cheaper (with little to no experience).
What is happening, however, is contracted companies are becoming wiser and realizing that something is actually wrong with the agency itself, (not the actual instructors). Often agencies lay the blame for their mistakes and inconsistencies on the instructors. For example, instructor works for a contracted company through a Korean agency. Instructor requests more pay after length of service (as per contractual agreement). Contracted company wants instructor to stay (i.e. proven competency, established trust/rapport, highly qualified). Agency fires instructor and claims to contracted company, "Instructor X went back to their home country", or "Instructor X had visa problems", or "Instructor X found another job", etc. etc. etc.
The overwhelming greed of some of these agencies astounds me. The mentality of making that "quick buck now", rather than securing a steady income over a period of time seems rooted within some cultural norm. |

What I can now disclose about this YBM position is (according to my colleague):
1) 25 hours week can be ACTUAL CONTACT hours, although YBM claims otherwise (schedule provided as well is misleading)
2) Classes can be rescheduled WITHOUT NOTICE (within 1pm-6pm)
3) Instructors have 5 minutes to run from building to building for each class
4) Instructors must do ALL requests (and favours) from contracted companies employees (which often is in addition of scheduled hours and work time)
5) Prepatory and adminstrative time must be completed outside of work time if re-scheduled classes and additional requests fills the 25 hour week
Not surprisingly, I have seen other agencies try to pull this scam on unsuspecting newbies. In fact, personally, I had one agency who had sponsored my visa in the past, REFUSE to cancel my visa when I resigned after they tried pulling the same scam. Of course, with an F2 I don't need to worry about this issue anymore. |

They don't put what they're paying in any of their B2B ads...that's a big red flag. |
