I bought a Toshiba laptop back in January of 2006, and it's worked great for me ever since. It's as follows -
Intel Pentium M Processor 1.73 Ghz
2 gb RAM (upgraded from an original 512 mb)
60 gb Fujitsu 5400 rpm HD (since augmented w/a bigass external HD)
Anyway, I've had to wipe it a few times due to virus/spyware issues slowing it down, but otherwise it's treated me well. Even the battery has held up perfectly.
While I realize that I'll need to buy an entirely new system before long, I'm wondering if I can squeeze out another 2+ years with this notebook if I upgrade the HD, as it seems like the weakest link. I found a new Seagate Momentus SATA II, 8 MB Cache, 7200 RPM HD with a 5 year warrantee for sale for only $119.
So what do you guys think? Will the HD upgrade make a significant difference? Or should I just tough it out another couple years before buying a brand new notebook? |

Upgrading the HD will give you more space, not really more speed. If you have maxed out the ram then that's it really. If it's fast enough but you want more HD space, then go for it. |

check what the max hdd is that your laptop can take....similar to RAM some laptops will only support a max HDD space.....if its from 2006 id hazard a guess of only supporting around 160GB or so......but check it out anyways. |
